And, specialized color modes mean you get the most vibrant images, whatever the situation. With smooth video playback, on-screen action sequences come alive. Best of all, the PowerLite S3 makes setup a breeze, even for first-time users.

With its 5-second startup time and time-saving Instant Off feature, it's always ready to perform! I was able to and 80" display in my room which is a HUGE change from my small TV. I can connect it to my computer, VCR, TV, Camera, Gaming system and more.

The only things that are a minor inconvenience are that if you are sitting next to it, you will fry. This thing exhausts so much heat and your room will be heated up in the summer if you don't have A/C or a fan.

Images from a Computer tend to be pixelated. Other than this, this is a great projector.

Customer Review: A good home theater projector
I bought the S3 a month or so ago after a lengthy search process. My goal was to get a projector for watching DVDs. The image is bright and clear. 1,600 lumens gives you a good picture even with substantial ambient light. I use a 92" high-gain screen, and a projection distance of around 13'. At that distance, 92" is about as small as the image can get.

I would prefer that the zoom was manual rather than digital, but image quality does not suffer much at all with the DVDs.

Overall, our family is very pleased with this projector.

Click here for cheapest prices or search other Epson Projector

Tags:
projector, Projectors, Home Theater, projector review, sony projector, dlp projector, lcd projector, multi media projector, video projector, projector screen, projector lamp, epson projector

PD100 Projector Review

PD100 Projector 1280 X 1024 2000:1 2000 Std Mode 16:9 Wide Mac

An entry-level digital projector offering all the right elements at an alluring price, the Acer PD100 is a worthwhile investment for those with an eye on portability and the bottom line. Stylish in silver, the PD100 features 2000 ANSI Lumens brightness, SVGA resolution and Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology, for clear images, deep blacks and solid color contrast.

Customer Review: This projector Is AWSOME
First things first this projector will give you the same picture quality of a $1500.00 - $2000.00 projector. It is durable and looks great in my living room. I get an awesome picture in the day time and even better at night.

The fact that the picture is good in the daylight makes this a wonderful buy. Any projector you find with 2000 lumens and a contrast ratio of 2000:1 that is under $800.00 is a steal. Acer is an off brand but they deliver top quality. The best part is you HDTV and movies at a fraction of the cost. My wife and I love playing Xbox 360 on 9-foot screen there is nothing like HD video games.

Most HD TV's start at $800.00 for a 27 inch which will burn out or get dead pixels in 2 -3 years with a projector like this one you start with a low cost with great value and if the bulb goes out after about 4,000 hours /166 days of straight use with out cutting it off replace the bulb for $150.00 - $200.00 bucks and you still save over a HDTV. Once again my Xbox 360 games look better with this projector than any HD TV I have ever seen them on. All I can say is WOW. HD up to 1080i 1080p (grapes to grape juice) is over rated any way. It also comes with a cool carrying case and all of the adaptors you need but hdmi.

Customer Review: Great Projector
Great Projector, I have it on a 120" screen at 15ft and it has an excellent picture.

Tags:
projector, Projectors, Home Theater, projector review, sony projector, dlp projector, lcd projector, multi media projector, video projector, projector screen, projector lamp, infocus projector

Epson PowerLite S4 Review

Epson PowerLite S4 3LCD Projector

The Epson PowerLite S4 Projector delivers color-rich presentations in the office or at home. An SVGA native resolution of 800 x 600 ensures that projected images retain their clarity even at great distances, while 24-bit color support of over 16.7 million shades results in accurate, true-to-life images.

Customer Review: Great value, Great picture!!!
I've had my Powerlite S1+ for a little over a year now, and I have virtually no complaints. Through some creative shopping, (ie. pricematching and mail in rebates) I only paid about $350 for this projector. I have it permanently mounted in the ceiling of my basement and have a screen that is about 113" diagonal. It has over 1000 hours of use now, and everybody that has been over to watch a movie on it has been totally blown away and they all want one. As far as the $100 component video cable from Epson, I was worried about this too until I found a local company that makes custom data cables. I paid $13 for a 15 foot cable that works beautifully. Initially I thought maybe when my bulb wore out I would upgrade to a higher end projector, but now that I've had so much enjoyment out of this over the last year, I'm planning on sticking with it and just buying a new bulb or two.

Customer Review: doctor16
This is a magnificent projector, "A lot of bang for the buck" I have been using it since I bought it almost a year ago and have nothing but good comments for the machine. Every one of my neighbors have enquired about it once they see it in action.

Tags:
projector, Projectors, Home Theater, projector review, sony projector, dlp projector, lcd projector, multi media projector, video projector, projector screen, projector lamp, infocus projector

0.55 Tft LCD, 1600 Lumens, 800X600 True RES.,300:1 Contrast Ratio,max Image Size

The ViewSonic PJ400 weighs only 4.9 pounds but packs big power into its compact package. I project my laptop on the wall for various demos of software, and everybody loves the clarity and crispness of this projector. I've even watched about 4 movies on it, some for my kids, and it's better than I ever imagined.

It is quiet, powers up and down quickly, and has two very easy and intuitive knobs around the lens which make it easy to focus and adjust the zoom or size of the projection, within limits. Overall it's exactly what I need for cheaper than I thought.

Customer Review: Super Road Warrior Gear
PROS: This light weight projector is no lightweight in the conference room. As an independent trainer, this projector has proven invaluable in ease of setup, use and transport. I was drawn to it by the price but I just get more pleased with it every time I use it. Not only has this been great on the job, it has transformed my living room wall into a giant theater. For its cost, this machine has great specs.
CON: The only thing I'd change would be to add focus control on the remote, but it doesn't take away from performance.

ViewSonic PJ1172

ViewSonic PJ1172 LCD Projector

The ViewSonic PJ1172 delivers premium performance in conference rooms, lecture halls, and boardrooms for maximum impact. The EP737 features the highest brightness and contrast of the EP73x series. Equally capable of presentations in the office or movie watching at home this DLP projector will deliver vivid, crisp images every time. The compact housing, light weight and near silent operation make this projector as unobtrusive as it is portable.

A reliable companion for those who order their business presentations "to go," the Optoma EzPro 737 is designed for convenient portability, weighing in at just 3.5 pounds and wrapped in its own soft carrying bag. With a wireless remote that includes a built-in mouse and laser pointer and full connectivity to a wide variety of computer systems, video players, and high-definition sources, this projector provides a full range of options that make it an exceptional fit for busy professionals.

Technical Details
1,024 x 768 XGA native resolution
1,500 ANSI lumens
High contrast ratio of 1,800:1
DLP Technology; HDTV compatible
Weighs just 3.5 pounds; 3-year warranty, 90 days on lamps

Customer Review: Best kept secret
On a "tight" budget for your home theater needs? That was me. I decided not to go above $1,500 between audio and video... well, that is a bit unrealistic if you also count cables and setup, but the Optoma EzPro 737 will get you one step closer to your goal. Here's why.

It is by far the best bang for your buck, among the sub-$2,000 projectors. It boasts DLP technology for a crisp picture, with a very decent 1800:1 contrast ratio and 1,500 ANSI lumens which -along with the native XGA 1,024x768 resolution- make it a great solution for your projection home theater needs. If you are not extremely critical, you will even find that it performs very well even if the room where you project is bright (during the day), but I'd recommend making sure you have proper blinds or projection at night for best results. In any case, if you don't pick this projector, make sure you don't purchase anything that's under 1,500 lumens.

Ah! Did I mention that it supports HDTV? That's what the XGA resolution is all about!

Now, on to the hidden costs. Since you will be mounting on the ceiling (most likely), unless you are extremely handy, count on some $400-$700 in installation costs, which may only include labor for running cables to your receiver/box plus the actual upside-down-mounting to have it hang upside down, etc. As for your cables, depending on how far you need to run them, they may cost anywhere from $50 to $150 bucks (tip: get the 50 ft M1-A to RCA -component- extension cable from Dell for under $50!)

All in all, this projector is the best thing I've found out there to meet all my video home theater needs: quality image and support for HDTV, plus it won't cost you an arm and a leg (compared to almost everything else out there these days). Just jump into it knowing that you will have to spend some $600 or more to get it set up for good.

Customer Review: WOW!!! BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE!!!!
I just bought this thing from Amazon and all I can say is WOW!!!!

This is probably the best purchase I have ever made. This thing is everything I ever expected and more!! It's very easy to use as well! I have bought other brands before, and this one just blows everything else out of the water! I have to say, everyone out there who is thinking of buying this, stop thinking. I bought it and I am extremely happy with it the moment I powered this thing on. YOU ABSOLUTELY
POSITIVELY CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS PURCHASE! I was able to and 80" display in my room which is a HUGE change from my small TV.
I can connect it to my computer, VCR, TV, Camera, Gaming system and more.

The only things that are a minor inconvience are that if you are sitting next to it, you will fry.

Epson PowerLite 81p LCD Video Projector -XGA

The PowerLite 81p Multimedia Projector offers outstanding image quality, easy operation and unbeatable reliability. The projector employs 3 proprietary 720p LCD panels that together provide 2,764,800 pixels (1,280 x 720 native pixel resolution) optimized for high-definition video inputs such as those from a DTV set-top box. Compatible inputs include standard 480i, progressive-scan 480p, and high-definition 720p and 1080i signals.

Sony's Advanced Iris function enables the projector to dynamically adjust the video image according to the level of the input signal, resulting in a high contrast ratio of up to 6,000:1 and reproduction of even the subtlest details. The projector's 1.6x zoom lens grants the projector a short throw distance, with the option to project on screen sizes of 40 to 200 inches. For placement considerations, you'll need to maintain anywhere from 4 to 6 feet of throw distance for a 40-inch screen to as much as 19 to 30 feet for a 200-inch screen.
You can easily adjust picture position using the lens-shift function, which broadens the projector's placement and installation options without distorting the image. Lens shift permits both horizontal and vertical adjustments, with a total shift of 2 picture heights, maximum up to maximum down and a total shift of 1 picture height, maximum left to maximum right. This allows for off-center positioning. You can mount the projector above the top of the screen or below the bottom of the screen, by up to half the screen's height.
An All Range Crisp-Focus (ARC-F) lens and powerful Real Color Processor (RCP) further enhance colors and images. The ARC-F lens offers an 8 percent focus improvement over standard projectors at screen center and a 20 percent improvement in focus at screen corners. And, with RCP, you can customize your picture by targeting specific items in a picture and fine-adjusting their color and hue without changing the overall picture's color and hue. For instance, you can fine-adjust the color of a strawberry without affecting human skin tones. Or you can alter the blue in a sky without affecting the color of water.
An advanced 12-bit panel driver brings high color graduation. This projector also offers a new HD I/P converter that improves not only NTSC video conversion but high-definition signals, as well. Further, the VPL-HS51's unique fan generates low noise for extremely quiet operation.
Supplied ImageDirector2 Gamma-control software enables Gamma adjustments to the VPL-HS51 via connection to a PC. Adjustments can be seen in real time, and personal preferences can be stored in the PC for future use. ImageDirector2 also works in conjunction with the Real Color Processing (RCP) function for precise picture adjustment.
Inputs and outputs include progressive-scan component-video, 2 composite-video, high-definition HDMI, S-video, USB, and a power on/off trigger. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) allows copy-protected, high-definition video content to be delivered from a DVI/HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection)-compatible set-top box. HDMI supports standard-definition (SD), enhanced definition (ED), or high-definition (HD) video, plus multi-channel digital audio--all using a single cable. It transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports up to 8-channel digital audio, with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements.
Optional projector accessories include a user-replaceable lamp (LMP-H130), a replacement air filter (PK-HS10FL), and suspension support (PSS-610).

What's in the Box
Projector, a remote control (model RM-PJHS50), 2 AA remote batteries, an air filter (PK-HS10FL), a CD-ROM (ImageDirector2 Gamma-control software), a user's manual, and warranty/registration information.

Customer Review: Amazing TV, trick to help maintain it

We received this TV as a wedding gift for use in our 1 bedroom. After buying the screen (which takes up one whole wall) and a great sound system, we have the PERFECT home theater system for a young couple who entertains and enjoys movies. The picture quality is unbelievable (especially with HDMI)...to the point where we don't feel that impressed when we go to the theater to see movies. The TV easily adjusts to light differences and doesn't require total darkness to look fabulous: a sunny afternoon with the blinds drawn doesn't hurt the picture much, and that's saying a lot for a projector in this price range. We've now had it for a year and are in love with it.

One HUGE piece of advice with this TV, however, is to replace the filter very promptly every 2 months. We had a large scare 5 months into using it: the picture started dimming to the point of black, something popped loudly inside the projector (clearly the lamp), and it stopped working. Sony's tech support, even under warranty, was awful and had no recommendations (besides sending it in for a $500 repair - no thanks). We opened up the projector and immediately realized the lamp had overheated. We replaced that lamp ($300), and now we replace the air filter ($25 available all over) every 2 months. We haven't had one problem, let alone needing to change that overpriced lamp.

If you're in the market for a quality projector that's priced very well, this is the one. I know others have been released since this one, but do some research on it before writing it off.

Customer Review: Horrible Support - Do not buy.

I have to say the same thing as the last review. I purchased the Sony projector 4 months ago. The bulb is only under warantee for 3 months. The first CS person told me it was covered and to take it in to a depot. Then I was told it wasn't covered by the depot but that I could purchase it for $450 plus the labour of $150 to install a bulb that can't take them more then 5 minutes.

I have gone back and forth with Sony support for 4 weeks. And they are now saying they'll give me a discount but the discount is based on getting it fixed at the depot and I'll get sony gift certificates back.

I have purchased a lot of Sony stuff in my life but I will never buy anything again. I was so disappointed with support on this product that I would never have bought one given the choice.

It is very good quality but the cost of ownership is just too ridiculous.

I can't stress enough that there are many other great products out there. Go with one that has good support.
Buy here

InFocus LP640 Business LCD Video Projector

Project your ideas in a big way with the InFocus Meeting Room Projector. I never received this product!

Customer Review: Solid Projector

Our company has used InFocus, including two of this particular projector, for years without problems. Of the four projector that we currently use (3 InFocus, 1 Sony), only the Sony has had problems (but I wouldn't use one experience to say that Sony is a bad company).

More importantly, this projector has good projection and lumens/light, and is very easy to use. We have done very little modification to the factory defaults (nor have we needed to) and have been very happy with the performance.
Buy here

Epson Powerlite 76C LCD Projector Review

Includes: a full-featured remote control with mouse emulation and an electronic pointer. Epson PowerLite 76C Multimedia Projector - This ultra portable multimedia projector offers you an ultra bright and stunning projection, with an XGA resolution of 1024 x 768, and 2,000 ANSI Lumens. The only complaint I have so far, after a week of use, is that the fan on high speed, needed here due to the altitude, is much louder than I would have expected. I can run the projector in the low light mode, but the 7,500' altitude requires high speed fan operation. No one ever cited that in reviews.

Customer Review: Great Projector! Great choice!

I like my Epson Powerlite 76C LCD Projector. Most LCD projectors use a metal halide source with a lamp life of 750 to 4,000 hours or more. Lamp life is not a very useful measurement, since they gradually grow dimmer without burning out and will continue to function even if they are too dim to be considered usable. So the term “peak lamp life” - the time the lamp will last at eighty to ninety percent of total brightness – is commonly used by manufacturers.

In contrast to metal halide lamps that burn with a very white light, halogen lamps burn with a yellowish light, at a steady rate, and have a consistent brightness throughout lamp life; but they only last approximately seventy hours per bulb. Therefore, they are also less expensive.

LCD projector lamps last the longest when the LCD projector is operated in "economy mode," frequently powered down for cool-down periods, and operated in a clean, fairly dust-free environment. Projectors that are subjected to constant use have the highest probability of lamp failure before the end of the rated hours.

LCD Projectors provides detailed information on LCD Projectors, LCD Projector Rentals, LCD Projector Lamps, LCD Video Projectors and more. LCD

When you’re hiring a data projector for your presentation you will often come across a decision to be made – that is DLP or LCD projector. The differences are in many cases extremely technical, and the layman may end up more confused than ever! We have put together a very brief summary of what you need to know when hiring a projector.

DLP or Digital Light Processor is a new technology which allows a much smaller projector to be made. So if portability is important, for example if you are going on a plane with the projector, then it may pay to look at DLP. The DLP chips themselves are made by US company Texas Instruments, and they have been aggressively marketing the concept for some years. This gives them a perceived advantage over the LCD manufacturers who are all competing against each other.

The new breed of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) projectors is however fighting back on the size front with the introduction of a new smaller panel, allowing manufacturers to create higher resolution portable projectors.

Both camps claim issues occur with the opposition:

DLP sometimes suffers from the 'rainbow effect' where the picture appears as a rainbow briefly noticeable when changing focus from one part of the screen to another. It appears as a secondary image that appears at the viewer's peripheral vision and is generally noticeable when shifting focus from a high contrast area or bright object. This does not appear in “3 chip” DLP projectors, but these tend to be very high end projectors in terms of price.

LCD sometimes suffers from what is called “screen door” effect, meaning the picture is pixilated and appears as if you're watching TV through a screen door. Again the newer LCD projectors have improved the aperture ratio to address this and it is much less of an issue than before. Similarly DLP projectors used to claim a much higher contrast ratio – i.e. blacks were much blacker than LCD; but some of the latest LCD models achieve a 6000:1 ratio, matching the best DLP ones.

Both types are going through constant changes and improvements, to the point where one cannot be said to have an overwhelming advantage over the other. So, unless you have a very specialized need for your presentation, go with the projector model that fits in terms of weight, size, brightness and price.

James Hunter works for Status AV, a leading provider of projector hire in the UK.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://lcd-projector.blogspot.com/2006/08/projector-hire-dlp-vs-lcd.html' title='Projector Hire - DLP Vs. It was correct before few years due to the processors in the LCD projections being slower than those in the DLP TV's. However, the sets that we are now looking at have a much faster processor in them, and therefore don't have the type of holdup or rainbow effect that the older units had. Not only that, but definitely like the picture quality is better on the LCD TV's. In fact, the LCD screen has several benefits over plasma. For instance, LCD screens run much cooler than the average plasma TV, and thus require less power to operate. Plasma TVs run so hot, in fact, that they require a fan to cool them down - which can be noisy. In addition, plasma screens have a tendency to degrade over time, slowly becoming dimmer. LCD screens, on the other hand, run relatively cool, and do not degrade over time. Some Plasma owners, who have used their TVs for a few years now, have already witnessed the dimming of their screens. Also, LCD screens tend to have overall better picture quality, and are typically 10 to 15 percent lighter than plasma

The problem with LCD TV is after given enough time, it appears that LCD panels, primarily those in the blue channel, will degrade, causing shifts in color balance and a reduction of overall contrast. The test did not include a large enough array of test units to draw any conclusions about anticipated rates of degradation under normal operating conditions

There are several unique benefits that are derived from DLP technology. One of the most obvious is small package size, a feature most relevant in the mobile presentation market. Since the DLP light engine consists of a single chip rather than three LCD panels, DLP projectors tend to be more compact. All of the current 3-pound miniprojectors on the market are DLP's. Most LCD projectors are five pounds and up.

Another DLP advantage is that it can produce higher contrast video with deeper black levels than you normally get on an LCD projector. DLP has ardent followers in the home theater world primarily due to this key advantage.

Thus due to stiff competition both LCD and DLP manufacturing companies are trying to improve the quality and are struggling for but at present DLP is having lead in it.

Keith Londrie II is a well known author. LCD is the acronym for Liquid Crystal Display. Most projectors use LCD technology. They can easily incorporate text, graphics and video. These types of projectors are also known as PowerPoint projectors since they are mostly used for presenting PowerPoint slides by corporate houses and business houses for business and sales presentations.

LCD projectors are versatile, reliable and portable. They can be easily connected to video, PC and laptops; they are compatible to most systems. They can project images on any surface with equal brightness. They can present data, graphics and video. These projectors weigh less; they are easily transportable. They have long-life bulbs. They have built-in speakers.

LCD projectors are characterized by resolution, luminescence, dimension, weight and contrast. Resolution is defined as the number of horizontal picture dots times the number of vertical picture dots. Most projectors are usually XGA or SXGA i.e. 1024 X 768 pixels or 1280 X 1024 pixels. LCD projectors have a brightness or Lumens of 1000-5000 lumens. They vary in size from small to bigger sizes and they weigh two pounds to 100 pounds. The contrast ratio determines the handling of the subtler colors.

The major suppliers of LCD projectors are Toshiba, Sanyo, Hitachi, Canon and Plus. These manufacturers cater to all the segments with prices ranging from $1,000 to $15,000.

The rates of LCD projectors depend upon the type of projector and usually the daily rates vary from $100 to $300. The rates for multiple days are given with discounts.

LCD projectors are mostly used for conferences, staging events and business presentations. Their high resolution, ability to handle colors, and quick start up make them a powerful piece of multimedia equipment to convey the message across a large audience.

Projector Rentals provides detailed information on Computer Projector Rentals: A Guide, DVD Projector Rentals, Film Projector Rentals, LCD Projector Rentals and more. In a motion picture projector, each frame is held stationary at an illuminated aperture for a brief period, and then advanced by an intermittent sprocket or reciprocating claw, the light being cut off by a rotating shutter during the movement. The sound track on the film is reproduced at a separate sound head where the film is moved continuously at a constant speed.

LCD projectors come with the capacity to deliver high-definition pictures with high pixel density. Most of the LCD projectors are compact and lightweight; most of the advanced LCD projectors even use two-inch poly silicon panels. These panels (an advanced LCD projector might have TFT panels) help to produce high-quality images with a high-definition quality of about 1,000 scanning lines.

Most of the ordinary and average LCD screens have a screen ratio of 4:3. However, in some cases, an LCD might also have a screen ratio of 16:9. Images are projected on to a super-large screen. Some of the salient features of a compact, lightweight LCD projector are:

1. The utilization of three high-definition two-inch poly silicon TFT LCD

panels are key elements in the production of the three RGB basic colors.

2. Images of high ratio contrast are produced. Usually the image contrast is 400:1.

3. A good LCD projector adds to the normal brightness by about 40% over most other conventional and ordinary LCD video projectors. These LCD projectors use a high-transparency LCD panel for the above purpose.

For example, one of the recent high-quality LCD projectors is the Fujitsu LPF-D711 high-definition LCD projector for home theater.

Projectors provides detailed information on Projectors, LCD Projectors, DLP Projectors, Video Projectors and more.
